LCF is changing a farm field back into floodplain forest along the Sangamon River outside Monticello. A raised levee trail offers up-close views.

Take a guided tour using your mobile device and the Prairie State Hike App.

A level trail leads into the shade of tall trees at this remnant of the woodland that once dotted our state, located just outside Clinton.

At this site, known for its rich history of recreational and practical use, Jordan Creek meets the Salt Fork of the Vermilion River. Both streams are on the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory.

Located on the Sangamon River adjacent to a Piatt County preserve, these woods provide expanded habitat for nesting herons, with magnificent trees and wall-to-wall wildflowers.

The Land Conservation Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to preserve and restore natural communities in East Central Illinois, to create interconnected corridors, to provide wildlife habitat, and connect people and nature for future generations.
