LCF is restoring a farm field back to floodplain forest along the Sangamon River outside Monticello. The Bruce Hannon Levee Trail offers up-close views. Our Sangamon River Bluff Trail connects to Allerton Park.

Jordan Creek meets the Salt Fork of the Vermilion River at this site, known for its rich history of recreational use. Both streams are on the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory, an indication of their high quality. Come wade in the shallow water or explore upland trails. 

This Nature Preserve of outstanding quality provides shelter for nesting herons along with magnificent trees and abundant wildflowers along the Sangamon River.
